Once counseling begins, the client and mental health therapist will utilize evidence-based approaches through individual and family therapy. Click below for a better understanding of the clinical approaches utilized.
In adult care, the majority of sessions will likely utilize an individual approach. Individual counseling is structured, and homework occurs in between sessions to gain additional learning. Sessions are 50 minutes, and depending on the approach being used, sessions may occur for three to ten months.
The majority of adolescent care and some of adult care will include family counseling. The focus in family therapy is not to place blame on any one family member, but to work through the dynamics that may exacerbate the problems occurring. Other times, family therapy will be utilized to bring support systems into the fold and help them better understand the approaches being used.
